Vertebrate and Rib Drawing

Bone Drawing | Assignment 1

The approach to this assignment was
to draw the connection contact between the vertebrate and the rib.
Using the techniques learned from life drawing 1, I apply the use of lines to show planes that creates a 3D form of the objects. Using different line strokes I was able to show what details is closes to me and what is furthest from me. Sometimes I like to use cross-hatching to enhance and to articulate forms through defining planes.

I notice the scale of the rib bone. I also noticed that the generally drawing is outlined. I also noticed the shadow on vertebra is darker then shadow of the rib bone. I also notice the way the rip stands out when it connects the vertebra because of the dark contour line behind it.

-I notice the usage of contour lines with shading to show a 3d feel in the work.

-I notice shadow in the work to show a light source.

-I notice lots of line variations in the composition.

-I notice the work running of the piece/media.

I notice that value is used to show shadow under the image, while contour lines are used to show plain changes on the image. The shadow shows one light source and the plain shading on the piece shows another. The connection where the vertebra meets the rib is shown with darker lines than anywhere else on the image. Only a section of the rib is shown.
